Thanksgiving Pie Crusts...

Being a few days before Thanksgiving, we thought it would be a good idea to help out in the tradition and learn how to make pie crusts for our yummy Thanksgiving pies. Miss Burton is quite the cook and agreed to head up our activity and teach the girls how to make a pie crust that we would later give to our moms to have for Thanksgiving. There is nothing better than a yummy homemade pie crust!

Young Women in Excellence 2009

We had another wonderful Young Women in Excellence tonight. It was so much fun to learn about each girl individually and to get parents involved in the night. Our theme this year was "We VALUE the Temple" This helped us to focus on how the Young Women Values that we have to follow will lead us to the Temple.

For decorations: We set up in the Primary room where we had taped several pictures of the temple all around the room and had a trail of value colored foot prints leading to a picture of the temple...

Along with the picture of the temple, we had baby blessing dresses, baptism dresses and a few wedding dresses displayed reminding us these are all steps we take as we work toward being sealed in the temple.

To start the program out...Sister Balls welcomed us all following which the girls in the senior Primary classes sang our opening musical number "I Love to See the Temple". It was a fun way to get them involved and excited to come to YW in the next few years as well...and they are just so cute!

(this was taken during practice, but looked just like the real performance)

We followed on with a talk from Clarissa who recently received her YW Medallion. She talked to us about how the activities/experiences in the Personal Progress book are helping her to prepare for the temple. Following Clarissa Sister Balls spoke about how staying close to the Lord and the YW program will lead you to the temple as well as a few of her own personal experiences getting to the temple from her experiences getting to know the church from the YW program, conversion, baptism, mission and experiences.

Following Sister Balls we had each girl's family/parent give a spot light on each girl to help us get to know them better as well as to learn about their favorite things from YW. We had asked each girl in advance a few questions ie: favorite value, why, fav, YW experience of the year, fav temple etc... and their families shared the info with us. It was awesome!
To end the evening Brother Dunaway gave us a message from the Bishopric about how the YW Program will help you get to the temple. We ended with a piece of wedding cake that had a temple mint on it.

And of course had fun visiting afterwards....

Silly Burton Girls....

Shaydra and Sister Peterson...such good buddies!
Thanks to you all for a WONDERFUL NIGHT! We look forward to ding it again next year!

Water Softball

This was such a fun activity that the Beehivesand Deacons put together. It has been really hot the last couple of days, so it was fun to get wet and play a good old game of ball. Unfortunately a storm blew in and we had to cut the game short, but it was still a super fun night!

All lined up and ready to go...
